The villain of villains

The already diverse cast of MultiVersus continues to grow, as the previously announced villain from The Matrix series, Agent Smith, has finally gotten a release date. A couple of new bells and whistles are coming with the new character that will give players a few more gameplay modes to fight in.

Player First Games announced last week that players who complete certain challenges within the month of July will be able to gain access to Agent Smith completely for free. But if the opportunity is missed, latecomers will likely have to pay real-world money to get the character.

If you would like to get Agent Smith in MultiVersus, then anytime between May 27 and July 30, take part in the Beat Rifts and defeat the six bosses to get him for free. This will not only give you the new character, but also unlock an exclusive Agent Smith variant that isn’t available any other way, and 3,000 fighter currency as well.

MultiVersus players who unlock Agent Smith through the Beat Rifts will get access to him on 8 July, but if not, his official release date is July 23, when he can be purchased normally. Clearly, unlocking him through the in-game challenges is a far better option as not only will players get him without spending a dime, but they will also get access to him weeks before those who will purchase him with real-world money.

Apart from Agent Smith, MultiVersus is getting two new game modes called Free-For-All and Spectator. The former will turn all the team elements off in a four-player match, and the latter will allow up to four people to watch ongoing matches.

Other than that, new improvements to Rifts have been introduced including a new Rift called Megalodog, and two more on their way for this season. Input Preferences are back from the open beta, and a daily free item will be available on the store from now on to entice players to revisit the game regularly.
