It wasn’t hard to understand why women chose the bear over men. If you can’t even handle a bit of rejection, then it’s time for some introspection. That’s what one woman in California experience when a man revealed his toxic masculinity, reacting poorly when she rejected him. The harassment that ensues is shocking but, at the same time, to be expected. In fact, you can bet any random woman picked off the street probably has a story of harassment to tell.
Shared by TikTok user Ladii Rose, the video show a man being very aggressive with another woman. Captioned āThis immature guy didnāt take kindly to being rejected,ā you can hear the man in the background to stop recording. She tells him to get away from her, which he ignores and approaches her anyway. He gets dangerously close and shouting, āDonāt record me, b***h.ā He continues to walk toward her as she backs up onto the street, telling him to stay away from her.
The entire interaction is incredibly scary. The entire time as heās walking back to his vehicle, heās calling her names like āstupid a** b***hā and making fun of her appearance. As sheās still recording, he tells her to get out of the street and that he should run her over. All of this happened just because she wouldnāt give her phone number to him? As one commenter put it, “Whereās the ājust say noā guys now?”
āThank god she was recording. Who knows what heās do is she wasnāt,ā another commenter said. They may have been what ultimately kept him from putting his hands on her. Another replied, āLol some people will still harm others regardless if they are recording. Camera does not equal safety.ā
Other comments echoed my own values, like holding friends accountable if they think that’s okay to do. As one commenter said, āYou gotta be on the lookout for more subtle tells, like referring to all women as āb***hesā etc. when feeling out if a friend is misogynistic.ā
It might be a icky word for some (mostly weirdos), but this is a cut-and-dry case of toxic masculinity. Consent is not a hard concept to understand, folks. Like one TikToker said, “āStop recording meā you could just drive away???” And they’re right!
