It has subtly been announced that Ahsoka will be getting a second season. Spun out of The Mandalorian and Star Wars Rebels, Ahsoka is a Star Wars Disney Plus series that was released in 2023. It followed Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) as they attempted to stop the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and bring Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) back home. The announcement came from official Star Wars channels in a post that announced a new Star Wars movie featuring characters from The Mandalorian.
While Dave Filoni is at the helm of an upcoming film, he’ll also be developing the second season of Ahsoka. All we know comes from the post which writes “including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also currently developing Ahsoka Season 2…” It isn’t surprising, as other Star Wars shows have gone or will go for more than one season, like Andor and The Mandalorian. Other shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi have more of a miniseries feel, wrapping up stories within one season. However, with the way Ahsoka’s first season ended, fans are undoubtedly clamoring for some sort of continuation.
The first episode managed to draw in 14 million views last August, so Disney is probably counting on a new season to keep subscribers on Disney Plus. We currently have no word on when we can expect Ahsoka’s second season. But seeing as it’s in production, we probably won’t see it until next year at the earliest. Just because we might not see it until 2025, doesn’t mean that there will be a lack of Star Wars shows in 2024. Skeleton Crew, The Acolyte, and the second season of Andor are all slated to release on Disney Plus this year.
