Alabama Democrats Upset About New Transgender Book Ban ‘Those books don’t belong in the kid’s section’

Citizens in Alabama have had a lot to be upset about over the last few weeks. From general policy changes involving SNAP, including a ban on soda and candy, to libraries across the state being about to be forced to remove transgender-related books to specific adult-only sections and bar them from children. This has caused a wave of uproar among liberals in government and online, as they voice disdain for Trump and the policy Republicans are choosing to spend time on.

In a post shared on the Alabama Reddit, and originally reported by AL, all Alabama libraries must move transgender books to an adult-only section, and kids can’t rent these books out without a parent present. According to the report, the Alabama Public Library Service board of trustees said Thursday that Alabama libraries must move any books with transgender characters to the adult section after they decided they are inappropriate for children.

This has caused a wave of anger with Democrats voicing their anger, while some Republican conservatives have said they are okay with the new ruling, as they think books on the subject matter shouldn’t be in children’s sections.

The VP of the Alabama Library Board, Michael Cairns, said this on Facebook about the controversial ruling.

I’m the VP on a library board in Alabama. I’m ok with this decision. If a parent wants their child to be subjected to this material, that is their choice. It shouldn’t be in an area where kids are left unattended at times.

This sparked a wave of like-minded people to clash with the opposition in a war of words online that will spill over into legislation, as this ruling will likely be challenged before the September deadline.

“I agree. I too am on a library board and don’t think these books are appropriate for children to be left to read in the children’s section”

“Just because you can’t see a book about the moon doesn’t mean it’s not there.”

“I am surprised that libraries still exist with the Republicans around. Educating people with books with tax payer money? Seems like they would be working to take that away from us. We don’t want the Government helping people, right, Republicans? (Rolls eyes)”

“Those books don’t belong in the kids’ section. Put them right out front where everyone can see them as they come in.”

This change is due by September 30, and it’s unlikely to change, as other rulings dating back to 2024 haven’t been successfully repealed, despite liberal opposition to the upcoming changes.
