There are fans, then there are super fans. When you love a particular show or movie, I totally understand wanting to share your appreciation for it. Some of us stick to a picture or knickknack; others remodel their entire kitchen. One Alabama woman on social media is doing the latter, giving her kitchen an entire makeover, with creations of her own to give it a personal touch. It’s like an entire room of nostalgia and love!
Artist Nikki Adams (TikTok/nikkis_garden_adventure) shared a new update to her ongoing DIY project of making her kitchen look like The Simpsons. And yes, it does include corncob drapes; in fact, the drapes were one of the highlights of her progress video. “For the curtains, I found this rod that had little balls on the end of them,” Nikki shares in her TikTok video. Nikki effortlessly — to her surprise — gets the rod painted purple.
“I can’t even explain to yall the pure joy I felt when it was time to hang ‘em. It was like such a dopamine rush,” Nikki says. Combined with the bright yellow of the curtains, the entire window pops.
Nikki then shows a preview of her new project for the kitchen: the fridge and dishwasher. Obviously buying a true-to-color fridge would be a pain. Instead, she sticks several color swatches to the appliances so she can “make a final decision” on the right shade of vinyl.
Meanwhile, Nikki reveals a montage of a large chalkboard she made for the kitchen, too. Although the Simpsons don’t have a chalkboard, she adds tiny donuts along the border, resembling the ones from the show. It’s a really nice touch!
Lastly, Nikki shows a shelf made by another artist, Grace.of.Spades (TikTok/Grace.of.spades722). “It’s like she plucked it right out of the TV,” Nikki says. The attention to detail is awesome, and she even added black to the edges to make it look more cartoon. Nikki has decided on where the shelf will go, but I think above the chalkboard looks best.
People in the comments were ecstatic over the kitchen’s progress. Some shared they’ve been following Nikki for weeks, just to see the outcome, while others faked jealousy. A few had shared they discovered the DIY project from Grace.of.Spades.
“I’m a new follower and thought you were crazy in the beginning not gonna lie lol But girl I am loving it! you are doing so good!! you are so talented!” exclaimed another. What’s particularly impressive is the way she created her own Simpsons-inspired decor. I can imagine at least one of her creations is somewhere on the walls of the Simpsons house.
“LOVE this as much as Ned loves purple drapes!” one commenter said, with a picture of Ned being very excited. It’s absolutely incredible what people can do with just a few materials, and I can’t wait to see the Simpsons kitchen come together.
