Solo: A Star Wars Story star Alden Ehrenreich joins the Ironheart Disney Plus series cast, Deadline reports. The Marvel Studios series will be led by Dominique Thorne (Judas and the Black Messiah) as Riri Williams, the brilliant young inventor who becomes an Iron Man-like hero with her advanced armor.
Behind the camera, Marvel hired Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer) as the show’s head writer. While penning the script for the story to be told, it is unknown what the plot will be for the series. It is also unknown who Alden Ehrenreich plays in Ironheart. Manny Montana (Good Girls), Lyric Ross (This Is Us), Anthony Ramos (In the Heights), and Harper Anthony (City of Vultures 2) will also star, with their roles being also unknown. Production for the series kicked off in June in Atlanta. It is expected to continue filming until later in the fall, likely around October.
Alden Ehrenreich joins Ironheart Disney Plus Series
The character is fairly new to Marvel as she debuted in 2016 in Invincible Iron Man Vol. 2 #7. Riri Williams will fill the void of Iron Man since his death in Endgame. With Marvel Studios adjusting characters in the MCU, comic book readers should expect some changes to make her fit in the world. According to ComicBook, she will make her debut later this year when Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11th. This has not been confirmed, but it would make sense and not a first for Marvel to debut a character outside their standalone film or series, as we have seen with Black Panther and Spider-Man making an entrance in Captain America: Civil War. It is unknown if other stars in the Ironheart series, like Alden Ehrenreich or his costars, have a small cameo in Wakanda Forever or anything else leading up to Thorne’s standalone show.
Ironheart is reportedly to have six episodes. It is unknown how long the episodes will be as the Disney Plus shows have varied in length from 30 minutes to close to an hour. No release date has been set.
