Disney made waves across the internet when it was announced they had cast Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo in a prequel movie. What went under the radar was how many movies the actor signed on for.
The New York Daily News reported the studio “quietly signed” the star for “at least three movies,” leaving the door open for a series starring the young smuggler, in case the first is a hit of course.
The Daily News notes this could very well mean a trilogy featuring young Han Solo is in the works, it is also very possible his roles in the other movies could be smaller supporting parts.
According to the website anonymous sources, Disney sees a lot of potential in this incarnation of the popular character. Due to the character’s unknown past and no ties to any historical plot-line, the studio has a lot of freedom with the stories they choose to tell with the young Han Solo.
Ehrenreich was officially announced as young Han Solo during the Star Wars Celebration opening keynote a few weeks ago after rumors and reports suggested the actor was on Disney short list of potentials.
The first Han Solo standalone film is currently slated for a May 25, 2018, release.
