Alicia Silverstone is hale and hearty and doesn’t want her beloved fans to worry. The actress sparked concern earlier when she consumed what was a poisonous berry during an exploration adventure. Silverstone then failed to give an immediate update on her well-being, causing many to speculate the worst had happened. Luckily, that is far from the case.
The Clueless star made fun of the disturbing incident in a new Instagram post. She uploaded a BTS picture of herself from a previous photoshoot. Silverstone channeled her inner diva, wearing a gorgeous pink silk slip dress and dainty jewelry. She ran her fingers through her hair and stared seductively at the camera. “Alive and well! Don’t worry… I didn’t swallow 😉😛,” she playfully wrote in the comment section. Fans’ fears were soon alleviated, and many joined in the humor. “This made me cackle! Thank GOD! You never know when it may save your life!” wrote a relieved fan. Another penned, “That’s what she said 😂😂. I’m glad you are okay!!” A third comment read, “WHEW!!! I was stressin’!!! Glad you’re alive and well!” A fourth fan joined in on the subtle sex joke, writing, “Awe, you’re a spitter.”
Others, however, warned the Batgirl actress to be more careful with what she puts in her body. One fan lamented, “For someone so careful about what she eats, you broke rule number one, which is NEVER EAT SOMETHING GROWING THAT YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS!!”
Alicia Silverstone Ate Toxic Berry That Could Cause Paralysis
The drama started on Tuesday when the Golden Globe nominee shared a TikTok of her eating a small yellow fruit. “I’ve discovered something, and I can’t figure out what it is, and I need your help,” she told her followers. Silverstone explained that she initially thought it was a cherry tomato, but the berry’s leaves convinced her otherwise. While chewing on it, she kept asking fans to help her identify the fruit.
“It’s almost like a pepper. Does anyone know what this is? I don’t know what it is. I need someone to tell me.”
Fans immediately got into detective mode and recognized the fruit as Jerusalem Cherry. It is a small, round, red, and orange fruit that contains the poisonous ingredient Solanocapsine, per MedlinePlus. Some of its symptoms include paralysis, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and more. As expected, fans began clamoring for Silverstone to give proof of life when she was noticeably offline for almost a day. Luckily, she indulged, and now all is well in the world again.
