Sony surprised us with a State of Play on September 24, 2025, and while it was brief, it unveiled many long-awaited games, a few updates for existing titles, and even one game that shows once more that the console war is truly over. If you missed it or just want to look up the major announcements, we’ve gathered all of the games that blew us away in the latest State of Play of September 2025.

Saros

Saros - Gameplay Reveal Trailer | PS5 Games

The State of Play kicked off with Housemarque’s next roguelike shooter title, Saros. At a glance, it may seem too similar to Returnal, and while in a way it is, it also brings several new features, such as a shield that absorbs blows and charges your weapon, more permanent upgrades, and even a “Second Chance” mechanic that you can unlock that will get you back into the fight once you’re beaten. While there are still mysteries surrounding this game, it is great to see more of that hectic gameplay that Housemarque knows how to do so well.

Zero Parades – For Dead Spies

The studio behind the acclaimed Disco Elysium brings a new espionage RPG where, just like the studio’s previous title, narrative comes first. You can already see some familiar systems in the trailer, such as dialog choices and a few rolls that affect how certain things in the game go. However, it puts more emphasis on the thriller aspect and what seems to be an intricate plot we can’t wait to experience. There isn’t a release date yet, but we know it is coming in 2026.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

You’re not tripping. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is coming to PS5, and it brings full PSVR 2 support. This series stands as one of the most gorgeous and immersive out there when it comes to flying systems, and it is finally coming to another major platform, with VR support at that. Another great news is that you won’t have to wait long to get it, as it will launch on December 8, 2025.

Nioh 3

Nioh 3 - Launch Date Announcement Trailer | PS5 Games

A release date for Nioh 3 wasn’t on my State of Play bingo card, but I’m glad we finally got one. Aside from the new gameplay footage and a bigger glimpse at the story and some of the game’s new mechanics, such as open-world exploration and its two combat modes, we finally know when this long-awaited title is coming, and that’s on February 6, 2026, which isn’t that far away at all. The first months of the year will be quite busy, especially for fans of the Nioh series.

Code Vein 2

Code Vein II - Release Date Reveal Trailer | PS5 Games

While it had its flaws, the original Code Vein became a cult classic and gathered a big audience of souls-like fans who want a more fast-paced gameplay style alongside better customization and anime-like visuals. Code Vein 2 is doubling on that, bringing even deeper combat mechanics, gorgeous modern visuals, and what seem to be even deadlier bosses than the ones we experienced in the first entry. Oh yes, and if you can’t wait to try it out, the game is launching on January 30, 2026.

Crimson Desert Gets a Release Date

Crimson Desert - Release Date Reveal Trailer | PS5 Games

All the non-believers can finally keep quiet, as Crimson Desert has an official release date. The game will launch on March 19, 2026, and to accompany this monumental announcement, we got a lot of new gameplay footage, including mounted combat, martial arts moves, mecha exploration, different weapons, and a lot more things that just show that the wait for this game will definitely be worth it. There are still some months between us and Crimson Desert, but it is great to finally see it getting a proper launch date after so much teasing.

Marvel’s Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine - Gameplay Trailer | PS5 Games

And now, my fellow gamers, we finally have a gameplay trailer of Insomniac’s next venture, Marvel’s Wolverine. While we already got a teaser of it, it is nice to finally see some gameplay, which brings the brutality this mutant is known for. We got to see some of the exploration parts, such as Wolverine sliding down a building and jumping off a motorcycle, and also many combat moves that feature some of the most satisfying dismembering systems we’ve seen in recent memory. It’s been a long wait, but it is a nice surprise to see that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch sometime in the fall of 2026.

While these were some of the major announcements of the recent State of Play, there were many more, such as a huge update for Gran Turismo 7, the release of Last Epoch and its expansion on PS5, a new Halloween game, and Let it Die: Inferno, which combines extraction shooter mechanics with action roguelike gameplay, and many more you can watch here. Overall, it was an excellent State of Play, one with a great deal of variety, and it shows just how packed the last months of this year and all of 2026 will be.
