Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode is confirmed, which is fantastic as we have been waiting to see the undead in a Modern Warfare game for the first time. But how are the developers going to pull this off? Is MW3 Zombies a round-based experience like what we had in the Black Ops series? Let’s dig into all the leaks, rumors, and official info and seek some answers!
Confirmed Information on Modern Warfare 3 Zombies
There are a few important detail confirmations on Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. First off, the Call of Duty blog has announced that MW3 Zombies has the biggest Zombies map ever. Back when Black Ops 1 was released, the largest Zombies map was The Moon. And then Tranzit came along in BO2 to highlight the prominent Zombies map. However, Black Ops Cold War had the Outbreak, which was officially the biggest mix of different maps with an open-world experience.
Now, the new map coming to Modern Warfare 3 Zombies is announced to be the biggest, and it is an open-world experience as well. This is something beyond even the Outbreak of the Black Ops Cold War. And it suggests that it won’t be a round-based Zombies experience.
Speaking of the Black Ops Zombies series, you should know that the story of the MW3 Zombies is connected to the BOZ universe. This is confirmed by the developers, and it is even announced that studio Treyarch is working on this game mode for Modern Warfare 3.
MW3 Zombies Leaks and Rumors
Alongside the official info about the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies, there are also rumors and leaks about this game mode. However, not all of these rumors are worth noting. Only two of them have the most probability to happen in MW3 Zombies.
Zombies Coming to Al Mazrah
This rumor comes from the official image that’s been released by Activision. If you look closely at the image above, you’ll see that the Zombies look like the Urzikestan citizens. Al Mazrah, being a part of this region, is the main Warzone 2 battle royal map. And if there are going to be zombies on this map, that’s where things get interesting.
If you look at the environment in this image, you can also spot some Arabic words on a burger shop sign. This is the same sign you can find in Al Mazrah in Warzone 2. Now, putting this beside Activision’s claim of having the biggest Zombies map ever, it all makes sense if Al Mazrah pays homage to the MW3 undead.
Outbreak 2.0 or New DMZ?
As of right now, there has been no confirmation or denial of removing the DMZ mode from Warzone 2. However, a new Zombies mode on a grand scale map sounds much like it’s taking the place of the DMZ mode. And it will be the next objective-based experience we’re about to see in MW3 and Warzone.
It’s been announced that the Modern Warfare 3 Zombies will feature many player squads in each match. However, you won’t be fighting the other factions on this new level. In fact, MW3 Zombies will probably be a good mix of DMZ and Black Ops Cold War Outbreak. This means that the players will spawn in a big map of Zombies mode to complete objectives and exfil with the gathered gear. But if Modern Warfare 3 Zombies is going to replace the DMZ mode, is it also free to play?
Is Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Free to Play?
Modern Warfare Zombies could be a free-to-play game mode. This would be a fair replacement for the current DMZ, and players might even get to bring their weapons and gear to the new mode. However, this rumor is neither confirmed nor denied by the developers yet.
Aside from that, there’s also the story of MW3 Zombies. Activision has already announced that studio Treyarch is working on this Zombies experience, and its story will be a direct follow-up to BOCW Outbreak. This is something that differentiates Modern Warfare 3 Zombies from DMZ; where DMZ followed the main Modern Warfare campaign, Zombies has nothing to do with the campaign and has its own narrative.
We will hear more about MW3 and its different game modes pretty soon before the game launches in November. That being said, take all the rumors, leaks, and unconfirmed info here with a grain of salt, and wait for the first MW3 Zombies mode trailers for more official info.
