This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

The most significant changes in the character movements added to Fortnite Chapter 5 are wall climbing, moving while drinking Shield Pots, and moving with Ballistic Shield. These movement changes add differences to the gameplay, while there are some other changes to give a much more realistic experience.

Wall Climbing

One of the most significant changes to character movement in Fortnite Chapter 5 is the ability to climb walls. This feature allows players to climb walls without building steps or supporting structures. Also, when you make vertical structures, you will notice some support beams act as ladders for the player to climb.

Moving While Drinking Shield Pots

Another movement change implemented in Chapter 5 is the ability to move while drinking Shield Pots. Previously, players were stationary when consuming shield potions, making them vulnerable to enemy attacks. However, with the introduction of Chapter 5, players can now move around while drinking shield potions, giving them a chance to defend themselves.

Movement With Ballistic Shield

The new Ballistic Shield is a portable protection cover that players can use. Moving with the ballistic shield also gives players a new experience. Also, this new feature and the introduction of weapon mods give us a feeling like the Fortnite version of Call of Duty.

Apart from these new features, some changes to the characters’ movements make the gameplay more realistic in Fortnite Chapter 5. For example, crouching, running, gliding, and walking now have a much smoother animation, making the characters move more naturally. Also, I have noticed that when the character is in an AFK mod, there are around four or five different animations to make the game more realistic.

Another important thing you must notice is some new additions to Keybinds. Two new keybinds were added for Force Walk (Toggle) and Force Walk ( Hold). I recommend unbinding the Force Walk (Toggle), as it makes movements somewhat different from the previous movement when you play.
