Tales of Baghdad are a unique collectible item in Assassin’s Creed Mirage because rather than a collectible item or treasure, each of the tales has you complete a short quest. Completing the Tales of Baghdad isn’t necessary to complete the main story of the game, and they aren’t part of any larger quest, but completing the tales lets you explore the city of Baghdad and the wilderness around it at your own pace, making new friends and running some interesting errands along the way.

Where to Find All the Tales of Baghdad

There are six Tales of Baghdad scattered throughout Assassin’s Creed Mirage, with four of them within the city of Baghdad and two in the wilderness beyond the city walls. Of the four inside the city, two tales can be found in Abbasiyah, one is in Harbiyah, and one is in Karkh. The two in the wilderness can be found at the Abandoned Village and Ukbara, respectively.

Tale of Baghdad #1: Blade in the Crowd, Tool in the Shed

  • Location: Abbasiyah, northwest of the Monastery of the Virgins

Head to the marker labeled “Tale of Baghdad” and you’ll find yourself in a small marketplace. There, speak to Naaji, a Hidden Ones’ informant who explains that he’s found two corrupt guards but needs your help to take them down.

Tell Naaji you’ll help him, then follow him into the marketplace. Defeat all of the enemies in the market – it doesn’t matter if you get seen or not, and the chances of you being in open combat are pretty high in such a small space. Regardless, once the last guard is dead, speak to Naaji again to complete this Tale of Baghdad.

Tale of Baghdad #2: A Life’s Work

  • Location: Abbasiyah, the Observatory

Once you arrive at the Observatory, follow the quest marker to an old man sitting on a bench right next to a codex entry on Astronomy and Astrology. Speak to the old man, and he’ll explain that he’s an astronomer and wants to complete his life’s work, a treatise on the stars, only he is old and ill. Offer to help him, then follow him for a few steps until he collapses. The old astronomer will explain that there are three pages of his treatise scattered around the monastery, and he needs your help finding them.

Help the old man recover the lost pages of his lost work.

To find the first page, go to the small building just west of where the old man is sitting. Go up the stairs and use Eagle Vision: the page will glow orange, but it’ll float away as soon as you approach. It’s a good thing you’re an Assassin, then – simply parkour after it until it lands on a rooftop to the northeast and collect it.

Follow the first page to collect it.

The second page is located on the second floor of the observatory, in the astronomer’s quarters, but the door to get inside is barred. To unbar the door, circle around to the northern side of the observatory, where you’ll find a moveable shelf. Move the shelf to the right, then climb it and toss a throwing knife through the barred window on your right.

With the door unbarred, go inside the observatory and up the stairs, where you’ll find the second page on a wooden table.

The third and final page can be found at the top of the Observatory, right below the viewpoint. If you already have the viewpoint synchronized, just fast travel to it. If you don’t, then you’ll need to reach the top of the Observatory by claiming up the southern wall, moving a bookcase into place, and then climbing the rest of the way up.

Find the third page right below the observatory viewpoint.

Right below the viewpoint, you’ll see the third page on a table in front of a giant astronomical device. Collect it, and then jump down to return to the old man. However, instead of the old man, you’ll find his son grieving his dead body. Speak to him, and no matter what dialogue option you choose, he’ll take the pages and end the tale.

Tales of Baghdad #3: A Holy Mission

Find Tale of Baghdad #3 in the Nestorian Monastery.

  • Location: Harbiyah, west of the Nestorian Monastery

In the monastery‘s graveyard, you’ll see a large monk inspecting the graves and worrying about something. He’ll glow orange if you use Eagle Vision, and once you speak to him, he’ll explain that he’s trying to identify one of the overgrown graves, but he can’t read the names.

In order to identify the correct grave, use Eagle Vision to highlight which graves you can examine. The one you’re looking for is on the northern edge of the graveyard, right by the water and covered in flowers.

Examine it, and a short cutscene will play where three guards show up to stop you and the monk. Defeat them, then speak to the monk again to complete the tale.

Tale of Baghdad #4: Leap of the Faithful

  • Location: Karkh, the Al-Mi’dhana Al-‘Ateeqa viewpoint

To complete this tale, go to the tall tower where the viewpoint is, and you’ll find a kid who wants to jump off the tower. Climb up and talk to him to learn that he wants to impress the Hidden Ones and jump into the haystack below, but he can’t do the jump unless someone else does it first to show him.

All you need to do is move in front of the kid, do a Leap of Faith into the hay, then get out of the hay and wait for the kid to jump down himself. Speak to the kid, and after a short conversation, the tale is completed.

Tale of Baghdad #5: Curse of the Si’la’

  • Location: Wilderness, Abandoned Village

This is the first of the Tales of Baghdad to take you out of Baghdad and into the Wilderness. To complete it, travel west out of the city until you reach the Abandoned Village, north of the Abandoned Caravanserai. Follow the tale marker to a man yelling about a curse in the village.

Speak to the man, and he’ll explain that all of his friends and neighbors are dead because of an evil spirit called the Si’la’. He needs you to defeat the spirit, but before you do that, there are several clues to be found around the village that point to what’s going on here.

There are seven clues that you can use Eagle Vision to identify. The clues can be investigated in any order, but the easiest way to get all seven is to go down the stairs southwest of the man. Examine the corpse you find there, then go down another set of stairs to examine the chest with Chinese markings near a house. There’s a jar inside the house near the chest and a coin with the Caliph’s emblem opposite the chest.

Once you’ve got the corpse, chest, jar, and coin, head down another set of stairs to find a set of drag marks in the sand. Examine the marks, then follow them down onto the beach. You’ll have to defeat a cheetah, then examine the odd marks on the sand where it was sleeping. The last clue is the pile of wood behind the cheetah.

After you’ve collected all the clues, return to the man in the village to explain what really happened to his friends and end the Tale of Baghdad.

Tale of Baghdad #6: Treasure Hunt

  • Location: Wilderness, north of Ukbara

The last Tale of Baghdad is also in the Wilderness. Only this one’s on the northernmost point of the map. Travel north past the village of Ukbara, and at the last house before the water, you’ll find a woman who’s very frustrated at the door. Talk to the woman, and she’ll explain that inside the house, there’s a treasure from her late mother inside a blue vase, but she can’t get to it.

Help the woman get the treasure inside her half-sunken house.

To get the treasure, dive into the water to the right of the woman and swim through the hollow part of the house until you surface on the other side of the door. Once inside the house, find and destroy the small blue vase to recover the copper ore inside. Unbar the door to make your way outside, then speak to the woman to give her the copper to end the Tale of Baghdad and receive 50 dirham for your trouble.

Congratulations, you’ve found all the Tales of Baghdad! For a visual version of this guide, check out the video below:
