24 hours on from its global release, Amazon Games’ new MMORPG Throne and Liberty is steadily rising on Steam’s charts. It’s now fifth on Steam’s most-played games, with a peak of over 300,000 concurrents. The game, developed by NCSOFT and published by Amazon Games, launched on October 1 and already boasts over 3 million registered players worldwide across all platforms, with 24 million hours logged in-game. On streaming platforms like Twitch, the title is also performing well, racking up over 11 million hours watched in the same period.
“Bringing Throne and Liberty to players around the world has been a huge shared undertaking by our team and our friends at NCSOFT,” said Christoph Hartmann, VP of Amazon Games in a press release sent to The Nerd Stash. “We’re thrilled with the results so far, and this is only the beginning. Our first castle siege update is coming soon, and we have even more content in store.”
Throne and Liberty takes players to the vast and shifting world of Solisium, where dynamic landscapes and environmental changes play a key role in the game’s PvE and PvP experiences. Players can morph into creatures to traverse these constantly evolving terrains, soaring through skies, dashing across fields, and diving into oceans.
The game’s rich narrative and innovative exploration system have helped it stand out in a crowded MMORPG space, drawing comparisons to long-standing giants in the genre. While World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV continue to dominate, Throne and Liberty offers a fresh take on familiar MMO mechanics.
In our preview of the game, staff writer Julio La Pine noted that Throne and Liberty brings a much-needed modern twist to a genre that’s starting to feel dated. From its stunning visuals to its addictive exploration and PvP content, the game shows massive potential to become a new staple in the MMO scene.
Amazon Games is planning to keep the momentum going with regular updates and new content drops. Players can expect major events, such as the upcoming castle siege, which is set to provide large-scale PvP action, further cementing the game’s status as one of the hottest titles on the market right now.
Available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Throne and Liberty is free-to-play. It’s poised to continue its impressive rise in the coming weeks as more players jump into the world of Solisium. Whether it has the legs to compete with industry titans long-term remains to be seen, but for now, Throne and Liberty is a force to be reckoned with.
