The former couple’s lawyers struck a deal that entails that Amber Heard is to pay a sum of $1 million dollars to Johnny Depp to settle the defamation case. The actress’s insurance company is to pay for the defamation settlement.
After settling the case, the Aquaman actress will have no restrictions on what she can say regarding the case. According to a source who reported to Mail Online, the Pineapple Express star “wants to put this unfortunate episode behind her and turn to what she loves in life…”
In a lengthy statement she shared on Instagram, Heard explained that she had “lost faith in the American legal system.” The treatment of her case was in her favor while it was in the UK courts. The Drive Angry star believed that her ex-husband had won in the Virginia courtroom because of “his popularity and power over reason and due process’.
During the long legal battle, the American activist sold her LA home to fund the legal process. After deliberately considering her options, Heard decided to settle the defamation case against her ex-husband.

In August 2016, the former couple reached a $ 7 million financial settlement. In 2019, the Pirates of the Caribbean star sued his ex-wife for $50 million after claims of abuse.
