There’s nothing worse than being stuck on a flight next to an inconsiderate person, but one female passenger on a flight from New York City to Milan had it much worse than the norm. It wasn’t until the man seated next to the woman started having a few glasses of champagne that he began to act — in a very indecent manner. This gross individual began touching himself and wouldn’t stop for an entire hour, all the while becoming more intense as time passed. Unable to simply get up and walk away, the female passenger felt “extremely uncomfortable and helpless.”
As soon as she was able, the New York woman called on a flight attendant for help and reported the appalling situation next to her. Here’s the shocking bit: the flight attendant completely dismissed the passenger’s concern and even defended the man’s vulgar actions in public. “Men just do stuff like that,” she argued and remarked that even her husband did “stuff like that,” according to People. The woman passenger demanded that the man be removed from the seat next to her to a different coach. However, the flight attendant said no and instead said she would have to move her seat if she didn’t want to be there.
Seeing she didn’t have much of a choice, the New York passenger finally moved to a different seat but later noticed the flight attendant and the foul individual “engaging in jovial, friendly interactions” as she served him more alcohol. It’s not hard to see why the female passenger eventually sued American Airlines for what happened. What the man did was undoubtedly despicable and disgusting, but the fact nothing was done about it but instead somewhat encouraged by the flight attendant is very disturbing.
“What the heck?” read the reaction of the top comment on a Reddit post covering the bizarre story, and over three thousand people agreed. “Imagine telling the whole world “my husband is a scumbag and I’m fine with it” like that….WOW,” remarked a user. “Flight Attendant is an idiot and she’s married to a creep/weirdo,” another agreed. One Redditor summarizes the situation in two RP quotes: “‘This guy is jerking it in public and I would like him to be removed.’ Best I can do is downgrade your seat.”
Of course, a few Redditors reacting to the American Airlines passenger’s tale made light of the story with jokes. “Whomst among us hasn’t stalked haggardly through the Best Buy straight jorkin it,” quipped a user. Of course, the context is how ridiculous it is for a man to think it’s normal to touch himself in a public place, yet that’s exactly what happened on the flight. Hopefully, the victim receives compensation, and both the flight attendant and the male passenger are held accountable.
