Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is drawing criticism online after comments she made during a Chicago event about voter ID laws and the election of Black and Latino representatives went viral. While Clinton argued that certain voting requirements can disproportionately affect some Americans, many social media users accused her of making insulting assumptions about rural voters and minority communities.

Hillary Clinton suggests rural voters are too stupid to show ID to vote and Black and Latino Representatives can only be elected if voters are segregated by race.

In the video from a C-SPAN event at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition in Chicago, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton discusses voting access during a conversation. The footage shows her stating that opponents are trying to undermine voting by kicking people off rolls and demanding forms of identification that “most people don’t have” and that “most older people and most rural people don’t have.” She adds that redistricting makes it difficult to elect Black representatives or Latino representatives.

The post caption highlights Clinton’s comments and asks whether she believes Americans are “dumb and racist.”

Online Reactions to Clinton’s Chicago Remarks

Many users criticized the statements as projecting bias or showing disrespect toward voters. One commenter wrote, “She’s projecting her own racism, arrogance, and spite towards American citizens. She’s still butt-hurt President Trump dog stomped her in 2016!”

Another said, “She believes that. Democrats have always believed that. That was their justification for enslaving and torturing Black Americans for well over 200 years. They still don’t respect Blacks.”

Some focused on Clinton’s credibility, with one noting, “We do not care what Hillary says about anything. She is a confirmed liar and probably deserves to be in prison for things she’s done.”

Others referenced past controversies, asking why journalists have not pressed her on topics such as the Steele dossier. A few sarcastically agreed with her framing, stating, “But Clinton is right about that last part. Democrat voters ARE DUMB AND RACIST.”
