March 2016 will be a big month for Nintendo fans. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD releases on the 4th and Mario and Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games arrives on the 18th. Physical copies of Twilight Princess HD will come bundled with he Wolf Link Amiibo for $60, and for the time being such will be the only method of obtaining the figure. More importantly, a few additional details have arisen. First, the dungeon it unlocks is called the Cave of Shadows. After besting the dungeon, players can save their remaining hearts to the Amiibo and use it again inside the Cave to restore their life. They can also attempt the challenge again to try and beat their score.
Link, Toon Link, Zelda, Sheik, and Ganondorf figures can also be used in the game. The two Links will provide a free arrow refill while Zelda and Sheik are kind enough to grant a health restoration. Ganondorf, well… he makes you take double damage. What a jerk!
Mario and Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (geez that’s a mouthful) will work with, surprise surprise, the Mario and Sonic Amiibos. Calling upon the figures will boost their in-game outfits with the tapped character’s power for an event.
In addition to the new games, more Amiibo and Amiibo cards are to be released in March, particularly the Animal Crossing series. The key figures include Timmy and Tommy, Kapp’n, Rover, and Digby. The total number of cards will be boosted up to 300 as of March, as well.
Finally, Star Fox Zero, slated for April 22, is already confirmed to feature Amiibo compatibility. Details on which figures (like we don’t already know it’ll be Fox and Falco) and what they will do remain under wraps. So with only a little over a month to go until so many big releases, we’re all in for a very slow February.
