Working in the service industry seems like it would be very overwhelming and stressful from time to time. Although, thanks to a California waitress who posted a TikTok to the account @b.tbo92, viewers see that working a restaurant job isn’t always too bad. The video has gathered around 15K likes and 93K views as social media users get a look at this customer’s hilarious dinner request that left staff laughing uncontrollably.
The TikTok begins with the woman talking to her phone’s camera while at work. In the video, the California woman explains that customers can leave notes while preparing their reservations. However, what this man would put on his was extremely strange and borderline creepy. The woman in the clip states that the man’s note asked for a female worker to sit with the couple during the meal. If that wasn’t odd enough, it keeps going. He would also allegedly say that, “I guess I’m proposing to my girlfriend tonight,” as well as asking the establishment to pay for their meal, due to financial issues.

The TikTok comment section had a field day with this man’s date plan, as they left behind plenty of funny comments. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” said one. “Why does the hostess need to join?” wondered one other. “They need moral and financial support,” joked one commenter. Finally, one said, “This person has so much going on.” The internet seems to remain undefeated with this one, as social media users tore the man apart online.
As the California woman reads the man’s demands on his reservation, her co-workers also begin to laugh. The person in the clip then asks, “What is happening right now?” as another can be heard asking, “What do you mean, I guess?” As the group of women continues to laugh over the odd requests, the video unfortunately comes to an end.
It is unclear if these strange reservation requests were legitimate or not, or if they were, in fact, carried out. Yet, even if this was just a joke or somebody playing a prank, it’s a silly story nevertheless. TikTok does a great job of showing the not-so-great sides of the service industry. But thanks to this California waitress, many users got to see that it isn’t always so bad. At the end of the day, though, if that man was actually planning a proposal, hopefully, he put a little more effort into it than that.
