Angel Reese and Lonzo Ball have been two names on people’s lips following Angel Reese’s ejection during a game. On Tuesday, the WNBA star joined her Chicago Sky teammates in a match against NY Liberty. Unfortunately for Reese, her team’s loss wasn’t the only painful part of the game. During the match, the basketball player received a double technical, leading to her ejection from the game. The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter when Reese was called out for a foul while chasing down a rebound. The 22-year-old then voiced her displeasure to referee Charles Watson. However, her actions earned her a technical foul. As Reese walked away, she waved off the official in frustration, resulting in a second technical foul and an automatic ejection.
Angel Reese’s ejection upset many fans, who shared their thoughts on social media. “They need to start fining the refs for bs calls like this. They need to get out of their feelings,” one person wrote. Another commented, “They just need to start reviewing techs and fining refs when they were uncalled for.” A third fan shared, “WNBA gon go right back to poverty if they keep this up.” Similarly, Angel Reese’s ejection also caught the attention of NBA star Lonzo Ball, who disagreed with the ref’s decision. Taking to X, the Chicago Bulls star generously offered to cover any fines Reese might face. “Ref that threw out @Reese10angel is weak…You know who you are (Keep ya money Angel I got you),” Ball tweeted.
Not long after, Reese replied to Ball’s tweet. “💞😭appreciate you gang!” she captioned a repost of Ball’s tweet. Hours later, The Shade Room also reposted Angel Reese and Lonzo Ball’s interaction, and fans lauded Ball for having Reese’s back. “How black men should be supporting black women. I love it!” one fan wrote. A second person noted that Ball’s reaction was the perfect example of how an ally should act. A third fan shared, “This is the BLACK MAN energy we need more of! Each one teach one.” Also, many other fans expressed delight seeing the WNBA receiving more highlights and attention.
