Angelina Jolie is ready for a career resurgence. However, it looks like she’ll have to battle it out with Lady Gaga when awards season comes back around. The two women are both said to be vying for the Best Actress award at the upcoming Oscars. While both women have won Oscars in the past, they’re both looking to add to their resume with a huge win for their latest projects. Their determination is brewing a feud that first started years ago.
Sources tell In Touch Weekly that Jolie has her sights set on winning the Oscar for her role as Maria Callas in a biopic about the singer. Meanwhile, Gaga wants nothing more than to be handed the Academy Award for her offbeat role in The Joker sequel Folie a Deux. Jolie previously won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2000 for her role in Girl, Interrupted. She was nominated again in 2009 for Changeling but failed to take home the honor. Meanwhile, Gaga was nominated for her role in A Star Is Born in 2019. Although she didn’t win for Best Actress she did take home the Best Original Song Oscar for her work in the film.
Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga Ready To Go Head-To-Head Come Award Season
Angelina Jolie will certainly have other actresses to contend with come awards season. However, it’s Lady Gaga that she wants to defeat. The two have a bit of a history of feuding. In addition to previously going head to head for the role of Cleopatra in the past, the singer is also friends with Jolie’s ex-husband, Brad Pitt. Jolie and Pitt are currently embattled in a bitter feud stemming from their divorce.
“This next Oscar season, they both want [the Best Actress prize], without question,” an insider tells the outlet. “Gaga’s convinced she’s hit it out of the park with Joker: Folie à Deux, and Angie’s purring about Maria being one of the highlights of her career.”
“But both movies are supposed to be Oscar bait, and the handful of people who have seen finished versions are raving about them,” the source continued. “The whole thing has the feel of two locomotives speeding toward each other. These are two extremely strong-willed people who hate to lose and love to fight uphill battles. But pitting them against each other is a recipe for disaster!”
It seems Angelina Jolie’s list of celebrity enemies may be growing. However, she and Lady Gaga may be forced to play nice. They’ll likely be forced together as they look to collect some new awards for their shelves in the coming year.
