In a completely shocking and absolutely-not-at-all-predictable move, Texas Republicans have unveiled new redistricting maps that, purely by coincidence, give them even more political power in a state that’s been diversifying and trending more urban (read: Democratic) for over a decade. In a video shared online, a lone Austin liberal shouts in protest as the bill is passed, beginning a new era of political gerrymandering that may not end anytime soon.
In the video shared on the PublicFreakout Reddit page by user JakeySuave, a video of a man can be seen on a banister. He shouts “Fascists!” and then walks away as he is escorted by a deputy out of the court, and then we don’t see him once he is out of view of the camera. Others in the courthouse don’t really even raise a stink, and for the most part, it’s rather empty considering how monumental this bill is.
This didn’t get by most of the people online, as they voiced their protests loud and clear, despite the futility most Democratic voters now feel living in Texas.

As you can see, many voters feel like their vote doesn’t count, and that the Republicans have attained a victory that is currently insurmountable. All we can say is elections matter, so make sure you go out and have your voice heard.
