The start of 2026 has been marked by a series of reports involving ICE agents engaging in actions many have described as harmful or unjust. In several cases, these incidents have led to arrests or deportations of individuals who were later found to pose no threat or wrongdoing. With that in mind, a woman from San Diego, California, shared her terrifying story of ICE arresting her while she was at her green card interview.
It’s incredibly terrifying to know that even if you decide to go about becoming a citizen through the legal avenue, you’re still at risk of being arrested. It’s sad to say that there will likely be many more stories like this one in the near future.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @milathekilla, which is run by a woman named Mila. On her account, she typically talks about topics such as wellness, lifestyle content, and mental health. Things were a little bit different this time around when she began this video, talking about having gotten arrested while at her green card interview in San Diego, California.
A green card interview, for those who don’t know, is one of the final steps in becoming a citizen of the United States of America. Mila explains that she was being questioned by the USCIS agent appointed to her interview, and things were going smoothly until she noticed that the agent began asking questions slowly and typing more on her computer.
Unfortunately, the agent ended up explaining that there were people outside waiting to speak with Mila and her husband, to which Mila just started crying. She had allegedly been prepped by her attorney that, should anything of this nature happen, it is because she is to be arrested. What’s worse is that moments later, her fears were confirmed as three ICE agents allegedly walked in.

The ICE agents allegedly explained that they knew she wasn’t a criminal, but that they had to do what their job entails, and in that moment, they had to detain her. She continues to explain her experience with being transported, allegedly being referred to as a ‘body’ by other ICE agents, and even what the conditions of the jail she stayed in were.
Plenty of people jumped into the comments to express their disbelief, with one person saying, “I will never forgive anyone who voted for this.” Another commenter noticed that people in the comments weren’t pointing out that Mila had done everything legally, saying, “Where are all the people who say, “Come in the legal way?” Because you were literally going through the legally correct process and they still targeted you. You still ended up detained. They’re doing this to so many people.”
Fortunately, she was released the very next day and says that she plans to use her platform to talk about her experience and share what ICE is doing. It’s a relief she’s okay, and I can only hope she is able to emotionally and mentally recover from this.
