While at an NFL game in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a Steelers usher argued with various local fans who committed the worst sin of all: standing up during the game. Worst of all? The usher might just be enforcing stadium policy.
The ridiculous moment was shared on TikTok by comedian Patrick W. Cutler. In the clip’s description, Cutler claimed that the Steelers usher “harassed” his entire section during the first half of the game, even threatening to call security for them standing up. The comedian called it “the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen at a game.”
The usher in question is seen asking several fans to sit down, even saying that he would bring security if they do not comply.
“I asked you to sit down, but it’s like moving heaven and earth,” the angry usher told an off-camera fan. The fan in question then tried to reason with the usher, saying that “20 people” wanted to stand while one chose to remain seated. The usher, again, wasn’t having any of it.
“One? Ok, my man… You’re obviously… This is your first game, right?” the Steelers employee asked, stumbling with his words. The fan just answered with an emphatic “No!“
The back and forth continued, although in an intelligible manner, and Cutler, shocked, just made silly faces at the camera.
Debate Erupts, Reactions
Quickly, many users found the usher’s actions petty and unreasonable, wondering how someone could not stand during a football game.
“I am standing the rest of the game with full dedication,” one user commented. Another said, “I’m sorry but what?!?!? steeler fans where y’all at??? is this how your stadium is?” A third wrote, “Glad I’m not a Steelers fan, I’d find a new team.”
However, many other users defended the usher, saying that he was simply doing his job. Apparently, at least in Acrisure Stadium, Pennsylvania fans are expected to remain seated and only stand during big plays.
“If you’re standing, then everyone behind you has to stand to see anything,” one user wrote. Another one agreed, saying, “Yeah, nobody else can see in front of you while you’re standing up, so everybody has to stand up.” A third commenter added, “You’re getting told for a reason. It doesn’t matter how much you paid.”
Whether the fans are in the right or not, it is still unrealistic to expect thousands to remain seated amid the thrill of the game, right?
