In a landmark moment for numerous reasons, conservatives and liberals in Texas have finally found common ground. Ever since Trump took office, it seems like each political faction has been at odds over just about everything, ranging from ICE to the war with Iran. However, with one fell swoop and a stroke of a few pens, legislation in Virginia has Texas citizens lamenting in unison about Governor Abbott and Texas refusing to entertain the notion of marijuana legalization.

@GregAbbott_TX why on gods green earth is Texas so anti-pot? Its a bad look being Texas is bordered to Mexico. Make Texas green!

In a post shared on X by @AMartineliWA, a statement about Virginia’s controversial cannabis legalization bill sparked an online uproar. He reported it for the Marijuana Herald, with a heavy outpouring of anguish from Texas folks, Democrat and Republican both, angry about Governor Abbott’s refusal to entertain the notion of legalizing weed in Texas.

Anger filled the comments, which were chock-full of people located anywhere but the state where the news took place, and rather, Texas itself. Here are some of the things Texas had to say about another state doing what its leadership won’t. Some liberals were even trying to convince conservatives to swap political affiliations.

“Greg Abbott why on gods green earth is Texas so anti-pot? Its a bad look being Texas is bordered to Mexico. Make Texas green!”

“Vote blue bro , republicans will never pass a bill to give yall Texas that opportunity democrats isn’t perfect but at least they believe in democracy for the middle class Americans like you and me”

“So happy for them, meanwhile TX is still living the prohibition days where u go to jail for a .25 of weed”

“Y’all need more jasmines and James n your local and state level of government fighting for the middle class regardless of race, republicans have failed your state for decades now.”

As you can see, the back-and-forth political discourse concerning legalized cannabis is a touchy subject, especially in Texas, where so many folks are complaining about Governor Abbot and their firm stance against legalization.
