“After voicing the character of Vixen in the CW Seed’s cartoon web series of the same name this summer,” reported tvInsider, “actress Megalyn Echikunwoke is set to unleash the comic-book character—whose non-hero name is Mari McCabe—on Arrow”
While Supergirl won’t be crossing over with Arrow or Flash anytime soon, the CW’s unified DC universe keeps getting larger. Earlier in the year, fans got an animated web series about animal superpowered heroine Vixen and her encounter with the Arrow and the Flash.
But now, as mentioned above, she will be appearing in the live-action Arrow series; courtesy of the acting skills of her voice actress Megalyn Echikunwoke. Vixen joins an ever-expanding roster of awesome DC heroes who, sadly, aren’t likely to get a big budget movie anytime soon.
Vixen is a DC heroine who was intended to be DC’s first African female superhero to star in her own series. Sadly the first issue was cancelled (1978) so her actual debut was in Action Comics alongside Superman in 1981. She will reportedly appear in Arrow season 4’s 15th episode. Apparently, she will be helping Black Canary master her supersonic screech without high tech assistance.
It’s unclear if this means that Vixen’s animated adventure is canon for the CW’s live-action universe but, with her episode rumoured to be airing on February 24th, we’ll soon find out.
