Anna Kendrick‘s recollection of an embarrassing moment with a film director has fans slamming her for being too sensitive. The actress, while discussing her directorial debut, recalled how a male director tried to debase her in front of extras. However, fans think the situation wasn’t that much of a big deal.
She made the revelation on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “I remember a director once in a room full of 100 extras or something being like, ‘Hey, on this next one just try something. Just make something up. Just improv something,” Kendrick recalled. The Pitch Perfect actress heeded the instructions but was met with disappointment when the director criticized her again. “And [I did it] and then the director called cut and came over and, once again in front of 100 extras, was like, ‘Oof, let’s go back to the script!” she remembered. Kendrick described the moment as humiliating, telling the host:
“It really felt like a very specific power move thing to embarrass me, to gain dominance. It was very icky.”
Making things worse, the 39-year-old added that the director went ahead to use the discredited scene in a film’s trailer. “And then the thing that I improved ended up in the trailer. So f*** you,” she declared.
Fans Blast Anna Kendrick For Being ‘Thin-Skinned’
Although Kendrick seemed pained by the situation, fans online don’t think the offense matches the reaction. “Anna seems to call out a lot of people for bad behavior without actually describing what the behavior is. Feels very ‘trust me bro,'” theorized one fan. Another Reddit comment read:
“OMG, what an ego. This seems like such a petty thing to be angry over.”
A third fan wondered, “That’s it? Thin skinned honestly,” while another agreed, writing, “Sounds incredibly thin-skinned, and her big dunk is that it was in the trailer wow very impressive, lol.”
