Attention Titanfall fans, Respawn Entertainment might be bringing in surprises for you when Apex Legends Season 9 drops next month. At least according to the confession of several members of the Apex Legends development team that appeared in a Twitch panel stream hosted by BrownGirlGamerCode.

As reported by the Apex Legends News account on Twitter, in the stream director Chad Grenier revealed that “a ton of” Titanfall content is coming into the battle royale game in “one way or another”. And if you’re a Titanfall fan, he advises you to “hang on for Season 9” of Apex Legends. Senior writer Ashley Reed then discussed how both games can be integrated into one universe.

What’s going on in Titanfall is a war, Apex is what happens after the war, like what is life like in this place? So we’re trying to integrate Titanfall into that, because Titanfall’s very much a part of the universe.“

Apex Legends Season 8 – Mayhem Launch Trailer

Previously, the game has added a cameo of the massive Moyai leviathans as well as some weapons from Titanfall back in Season 2. However, Apex Legends Season 9 might add much more than that. A leaked gameplay video and screenshot suggest that Kuben Blisk, a recurring character from Titanfall, will be added as a new Legend. The leak shows that Blisk has a wall running ability and his Ultimate lets him drops a Titan that works as an auto turret and will self-destruct on its own after a short while.

I think the addition of Blisk lines up perfectly. Especially since Reed said that Apex Legends takes place after the events of the Titanfall series. In 2019, executive producer Drew McCoy also mentioned that they have prototyped “a bazillion ways” of having Titans in the game. However, the giant mechs proved to be incredibly unbalanced for a battle royale game they’re trying to make. Not being able to directly control the Titan is pretty disappointing but for the sake of balancing, I think it is an okay compromise.

Apex Legends Season 9 is coming on May 21st. Furthermore, Respawn is planning to release Android and iOS ports sometime in 2022. Stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for more gaming news and updates.
