Ariel Winter has landed her first film role following her decade-long run as Alex Dunphy on Modern Family.
The 22-year-old actress who landed her first role in TV as the studious, middle child of the Dunphy family on Modern Family over a decade ago, had been part of the beloved ABC sitcom since the age of 11. She grew up with the popular show alongside fellow child actors Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez, wrapping up her run with the show’s finale after 11 seasons in April of this year.
Now swapping out TV, Winter has booked her first movie role. As reported by Deadline, Winter is set to join comedy-thriller Don’t Log Off, a film set in the early days of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Revolving around the story of six friends attending a virtual surprise party when the birthday girl suddenly goes missing, this flick marks the directorial debut from the Baer Brothers, Brandon Baer, and Garrett Baer, who have also written the script. The production which is set to be a combination of virtual and on-location shooting is currently underway. Sterling Beaumon, Luke Benward, and Winter are also producing the project alongside Nicole Smolen and Austin Seltzer.
The film is also set to star Kara Royster of Pretty Little Liars fame, Teen Wolf’s Khylin Rhambo, Luke Benward from Jennifer Aniston-starred Dumplin’, Ashley Argota of The Fosters, Brielle Barbusca of Big Time Adolescence, and The Killing’s Sterling Beaumon. There have been no coronavirus quarantine themed films made as of yet so the plot of Don’t Log Off does seem intriguing even if no other details have been revealed regarding the film.
Anyone who was a fan of Modern Family and watched Winter grow up and bloom into a brilliant woman and actress will know that we can expect good things from her both on Don’t Log Off and any projects that follow in the future.
