In North America, property lines and their starting and ending points tend to be the source of varying disputes. If you haven’t already seen someone take their neighbor to court for building a fence on their property, then perhaps you’ve seen the more aggressive version: a neighbor tearing down a fence themselves. For some, it is a truly important part of their home, and rightfully so, as they have paid for it. One Arizona man learned that the hard way when he was confronted about having built a garage on his neighbor’s property. Of course, things ended the way you would expect them to.
Landscaper Emilio Villatoro was tasked with working on a property belonging to an elderly couple in Tucson, Arizona, where he encountered a significant issue: a substantial portion of the couple’s land was being affected by their neighbor’s garage seepage. There is a very clear line painted into the cement/asphalt fencing placed behind both homes that very clearly states that the man did not have the right to build the garage where he did. When Villatoro confronted him about this, the man threatened to sue.
The entire confrontation spans several videos, all of which can be viewed on Emilio Villatoro’s TikTok page. After deliberations and several back-and-forths between the neighbors, it became clear that more information was needed to understand how the event had occurred in the first place. Well, according to the neighbor who hired a contractor to build the garage, they did not have a permit to do so. So, Villatoro did what the elderly couple had asked of him and started digging as close to the garage as possible to provide them with as much of their land as possible.
Realistically, Villatoro went above and beyond for his clients, even serving as the primary point of contact between them and their neighbor. Landscaping is no easy feat, and finding someone who can do a good job and approach delicate situations carefully is a valuable asset to have around.
