If you’re ever seeking the support of netizens during a dispute with a neighbor, a stranger, or a manager, don’t count on them to automatically rally behind you. The internet has its own criteria for deciding whether someone has been wronged or is simply seeking attention. Recently, a content creator found this out when he asked TikTok users to back him after a visit to a popular steakhouse in Flagstaff, Arizona ended with him being asked to leave for bringing in an energy drink.
In the first part of his video, the man and the manager of Black Bart’s Steakhouse, who stood at the host station as other patrons dined in the background, were already in a tense exchange. The manager noticed he was being filmed and, with a hint of sarcasm, asked where the video would appear so he could watch it himself. “I look forward to seeing this on… Where’s it going to be? Instagram or TikTok…?, he said. When the customer, who was holding a can of Ghost Energy drink, questioned why he was being turned away, the manager replied that outside food and beverages were not allowed inside. The latter also pointed out that the establishment has a sign outside that clearly states the policy.
More on What Happened
Once outside the steakhouse, the customer recorded a follow-up video explaining that he simply wanted to enjoy dinner and did not expect his drink to cause a problem. He said the manager “was just immediately super irate,” demanding the energy drink be thrown away. The customer claimed he had offered to dispose of it himself but objected later on due to the staff’s harsh approach. Calling the interaction “insane” and “arrogant,” he urged viewers to share the video so the manager would “treat people better.” However, many viewers were unmoved by the customer’s account and pointed to the restaurant’s long-standing policies, which are meant to protect health and liquor licenses.
Netizens Back the Arizona Restaurant’s Decision
The comment section of the man’s TikTok was filled with support for the steakhouse. “Who brings a drink into a restaurant 😂,” one person asked, while another said, “Rules are rules!! I support Black Bart’s!!!” Two more added, “The manager did a great job. Kudos!” and “Great job by the restaurant.”
Several others stressed that no-outside-food policies are standard everywhere. “That’s standard everywhere, dude. Like, why would you walk into a restaurant with your own drink?!,” one user noted. Someone else agreed, “It’s a health code violation & they could lose their liquor license. This isn’t a new thing.” Another simply wrote, “We are on the restaurant’s side.”
