Arizona Woman Risks It All for DIY Pole Dance, Ends Up Wrecking Her Apartment, ‘Lost Everything and Got Electrocuted Twice’

At least we know the sprinklers work

It’s understandable why many people prefer to build their own little gym setups in the privacy of their homes. Still, this DIY approach to workout equipment can easily backfire and result in serious damage, like what happened to one pole dance enthusiast from Arizona, who thought she was safe swinging around the pole she installed herself, until she wasn’t. The pole not only came loose, but also tore open a water system above it, raining down destruction on the pole dancer’s apartment.

The rather unfortunate incident happened to TikTok user angeppv from Arizona around January 25. The TikTok user was merely going about her usual pole dance routine when her pole shook after one full-body spin. After double-checking the pole’s integrity, the TikTok user was surprised to see that the pole was no longer connected to the ceiling, and water came spraying from where it was once connected.

Sadly, the damage wasn’t limited to one spot: “Lost almost everything I own and got electrocuted twice, but at least I got it all on camera,” according to the pole dancer. Based on the video, water got everywhere, and the TikTok user even had to call the Fire Department for help. It’s not clear what exactly caused the damage, but some commenters have guessed that the pole must have hit a sprinkler head or a pipe when it came loose.

It’s also possible that the pole was directly drilled into a water pipe. The TikTok user has since asked for donations, because she not only lost her clothes but also most of her electronics, including her PlayStation. It’s not clear how much trouble the pole dancer got into, especially with her landlord or other tenants in the apartment building.

People online are questioning her priorities

The TikTok user’s post has since gone viral with nearly a million views across multiple platforms, and most people were asking whether the cat was alright, since it was also rained on. “BYE, the cat runnin off the bed is sending me😭” laughs one commenter, though it appears to be fine, as the TikTok user seemed to be worried about her stuff only.

“She got Tupperware for dressers. And drilled a stripper pole into her water pipe lol priorities smh,” questions another commenter, assuming how she prioritized her pole over her quality of life upgrades for the house, which is true considering how she couldn’t use proper materials for the pole and had to mount it on the ceiling plaster or the water line.

Meanwhile, some concerned commenters outside the US were wondering why exactly the pole collapsed so easily and took half the ceiling with it, then started blaming the quality of modern American housing construction, “Who would have guessed. In an American building? Made of wood and paper? (insert wall comparison meme),” as some were confident that, “I think in a proper concrete building this wouldn’t have happened.”
