A few days ago, Comicbook.com ran a story about the cool stuff Art Director Raf Grassetti (God of War) was doing on his social media with Super Smash Bros. When the first article was posted, Raf had a few characters completed and if he had the time he would keep going. Luckily for all video game fans, he found some time and kept on trucking. The Super Smash Bros art series is now 7 characters strong and not over yet.
Alright, enough with the text. Here are some of my favorites.

It is a tough choice on who is more nightmare fuel between Bowser and Sonic. I don’t know what it is about that interpretation of Sonic, but I can’t stop looking at it. Fuzzy, realistic, slightly terrifying, and the whole project truly, is one of the coolest things I have seen all year. Nothing gets me mushier and gush about video game culture more when I get to see the fan side of these mega-talents sneak themselves out. Because at the end of the day, everyone is just a fan. Here’s a list of the characters Grassetti has created so far (Be sure to check out his Instagram, which is where he’s been showing off the projects):
Characters Re-Imagined So Far
- Samus
- Link
- Fox
- Bowser
- Sonic
- Mewtwo
- Mega Man
Characters I Hope to See Re-Imagined
- Villager
- Diddy Kong
- Olimar
- Pac-Man
- R.O.B
- Solid Snake (because why not)
There is no saying how many more Raf will do, so sit back and enjoy the ride for the time being. You can follow him on Instagram as stated above or on Twitter at @rafagrassetti, where he is also posting his work.
Before I forget, make sure to play God of War because his art direction on the game is fantastic. We gave God of War a perfect score and if you want to see the full review, you can check it out here.
