A disturbing road rage encounter in Douglasville, Georgia, is now under police investigation after a Black woman said a White couple pulled up next to her at a red light and began shouting racial slurs and making violent threats.
The woman, identified as Shanita Adams, told WSB-TV the incident happened shortly after she left a Sam’s Club on Concourse Parkway. According to her, the couple had first gotten confrontational with an elderly Black woman, calling her a racial slur and saying that they would “kill her” and “hang her from a tree.”
After the elderly woman drove away, the couple reportedly turned their attention toward Adams and repeated the same things they had told the other driver to her. Adams was able to record part of their exchange, including moments where the couple flipped her the middle finger and when the White woman leaned partly out of the passenger-side window of a dark sedan to yell out more offensive remarks.
Adams later described the woman’s behavior as shocking and deeply disturbing, saying it was “just horrible how she was acting.” She added, “What would usually be 30 minutes to get home, it took me about an hour because I couldn’t get my mind together.”
The news outlet reported that police confirmed they are reviewing the video as part of their investigation into the couple and said the individuals involved could potentially face terroristic threats charges once identified. The outlet blurred the woman’s face in the footage because she has not been formally charged, but she was heard telling Adams that her name was Kenya.
Following the news, a lot of people on TikTok have condemned the Georgia couple’s behavior, with one saying, “People have lost all human decency. Shameful,” and another writing, “As a white person, I’m over white people!”
