The road to recovery is being paved. Beef and Emily in Paris star Ashley Park has revealed on Instagram that she is starting her 2024 in recovery for critical septic shock, a dangerous form of sepsis that is caused when the body overreacts to an infection.
While writing the post, she said she is “grateful” as she sat “here processing and recovering from the first few weeks of 2024.” During the holidays, she was traveling and had a case of tonsillitis that “spiraled” into her current condition that “infected and affected several of my organs.” Her “health has improved despite” the information that was given to her during earlier stages of diagnosis and treatment.
Ashley Park Writes About the Support She Received During Critical Septic Shock Treatment
Of the people who were supporting her through this experience of septic shock, Ashley Park was “grateful” the most for her boyfriend and Emily in Paris co-star Paul Forman. She wrote that he was “unconditionally by my side through all this.” He eased her “fears” and “held” her “through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain.”
In a separate post, her partner shared a selfie of the two of them with the caption, “By your side, no matter what.”
The couple were on the Bodufushi island in Raa Atoll, where they stayed at the Joali Being beach resort. While thanking “every doctor and ICU nurse” who came to her aid, she also thanked the resort’s “team for responding immediately and staying with me to provide language translations and vital support.” She then gave her “infinite thanks to my personal team of heroes at home who were on calls with insurance, Paul, my parents, and doctors at all hours (you know who you are).”
When it came to sharing about her critical septic shock, Ashley Park wrote that she initially “hesitated” because her state puts her “in the throes of recovery.” She decided to make the post as she knows she is “safely on the other side of the worst.”
