Assassin’s Creed Mirage‘s solid launch is a direct result of Ubisoft’s aim to return the series to its roots by focusing on more linear storytelling and stealth gameplay. As has been rumored since the game’s early development, and as folks will notice, Assassin’s Creed Mirage‘s map size is not as big as the latest AC titles. Let’s break it all down and look at the size of the game’s map and what it has to offer.

Mirage is set in Baghdad in the 9th century, during the anarchy at Samarra, and we dive into these adventures with Basim. Moreover, the game’s map also includes Alamut. This naturally brings to mind the question of how big the game map is.

The total map size of Assassin’s Creed Mirage is 45 km², with playable areas covering 13 km². The city of Baghdad, where most of the events happen, occupies 2.3 km². This doesn’t mean that the game isn’t as great an addition. In fact, folks can now immerse themselves in adventures within a more interactive and easily navigable world.

Comparing the Map of Mirage with Other AC Games

Now that we know all the details about Mirage‘s map, it’s time to compare it to others’ maps. To be honest, the game has a pretty small map compared to Valhalla and Odyssey. The map sizes of these games are 120 km² and 256 km², including the sea, respectively. This indicates how big a risk Ubisoft took with the last game because map sizes have always increased in recent years.

As those who played the AC will know, the closest game to Mirage in map size is Assassin’s Creed Unity, which was released in 2014. The size of the Paris map of the game, which takes place in 1789, is 2.4 km².

While map size is a critical element for most games, it is not essential for Mirage, which focuses more on story and stealth. The sales figures and reviews of the game prove that.
