Set for a December 21, 2016 theater release, the Assassin’s Creed film has shown itself ready to show off some promotion. Said teasers come in the form of images of Aguilar de Nerha, the lead role, who is played by Michael Fassbender. Fassbender also protrays Aguilar’s modern day ancestor, Callum Lynch.

Aguilar favors a traditional bow and arrow as his long-range weapon.

Assassin’s Creed’s plot follows the concept of the games closely. Callum, a present-day death row inmate, is granted a get-out-of-jail-free card by an organization in possession of an Animus. Callum uses the Animus to relive the experiences of his ancestor, Aguilar. His genetic memories take him to 15th century Spain, where the Assassins continue their never-ending war with the Templars.

Now what could possibly be positioned just conveniently off-screen to make our hero grin like that?

As an assassin, Aguilar utilizes a variety of familiar tools. These include the iconic hidden blades, throwing knives, and smoke bombs. Even the bleeding effect from the Animus is present in the Assassin’s Creed movie, as Callum is able to obtain his predecessor’s skill with the bow.

Other well-known characters, and some assassins, are set to appear in the film as well. Unfortunately, these do not include the likes of the main characters from the games (i.e. Altair, etc.). Well darn.

"Wait, you want me to jump off from where!?"

Assassin’s Creed is directed by Justin Kurzel and co-stars Ariane Labed as Aguilar’s assassin cohort Maria. Extensive care is being taken with the in-Animus portions of the movie to ensure the feeling and thrill of the games is translated as faithfully as possible.

The movie hits the silver screen mere days before Santa hits the chimneys. Until the snow starts falling, keep checking The Nerd Stash to find out which new and upcoming flicks are naughty and which are nice… alright, fine, I’ll stop with the Christmas jokes – after this next one.

Merry Creedmas.
