A small group of monks, participating in what has been described as a “walk for peace,” were met not with silence and reflection but with a large, energetic crowd that followed them closely, cheering and filming as they walked.
In videos circulating on TikTok, the crowd can be seen walking alongside the monks through the street at night, filming them from short distances, hollering, and even running ahead to get a closer look. Police vehicles were also present and they moved slowly with the procession, seemingly to manage traffic and provide security.
Now, while some netizens interpreted the turnout as a show of support, others felt the scene had crossed into something entirely different. Several people argued that the crowd had missed the entire point of the moment. One woman, who recently shared a now-viral TikTok video addressing the situation, openly criticized the way the Atlanta crowd had reacted to the monks’ walk.
She Felt They Missed the Plot
The TikToker suggested that many individuals attending did not fully understand who the monks were or why they were walking. According to her, the monks had traveled from different countries to participate in the walk and had broken vows of silence and solitude to use the event as a symbolic warning about imbalance in the world, rather than as a celebration or public attraction.
She shared the view that unless someone was genuinely approaching the moment from a place of inner reflection or spiritual intention, there was little reason to insert themselves into the experience at all. She also urged people to recognize the gravity of the moment and not turn it into a spectacle.
