Many people aren’t particularly fond of the police, and unfortunately, the recent incident involving two Austin officers is unlikely to improve their reputation. A Reddit user recently posted a video capturing a confrontation between a man and two police officers in Texas. The footage begins with the female officer speaking to the man, who was filming the officers. It seems the officers were unhappy with the man’s proximity, instructing him to keep his distance.

However, things took a strange turn when the female officer insisted that the man not cross an imaginary “line.” The issue? There was no visible line anywhere. “If you cross this line, you’re interfering with police duties. Do you understand?” she demanded. The Austin man responded, “There’s literally no line, and you’re threatening to arrest me.” The Texas officer then gestured toward a pole nearby, suggesting that the man should not cross the area past it.

As if the situation wasn’t tense enough, the male Austin officer stepped in. Despite the citizen repeatedly stating that he wouldn’t cross the imaginary line—especially since he couldn’t even see it—the officer immediately began issuing threats of arrest. He claimed he would direct the female officer to take action if the man crossed the line. “Film me all you want, and make sure you get the good side of me for the internet,” the male officer said, seemingly unconcerned with the escalating confrontation.

Many viewers of the video agreed that the two Austin officers were overly aggressive. While it’s true that citizens should respect boundaries and avoid interfering with police work, the officers’ approach and tone toward the man filming were unnecessarily harsh. The repeated threats of arrest only escalated the situation, making the interaction neither productive nor safe. “Unless they’re charging you with a crime you can refuse to talk to them or answer any questions,” one Redditor commented.

Some users humorously mocked the exaggerated behavior of the male Austin officer. His dramatic body movements and heated remarks made him particularly memorable. “The sergeant should’ve gone into theater with the way he’s playing his little act,” one user quipped.

Others openly criticized the police officers, claiming that none of them were doing their job properly. “APD is useless. Every time I’ve had to deal with them, half of them couldn’t care less and would rather be sleeping in their car under an overpass pretending to watch for speeders,” one user remarked.
