An Australian content creator gained attention after posting a stress-free dishwasher hack for cleaning Crocs. However, his hack went viral for all the wrong reasons, becoming a lesson on what not to do.

The clip posted on Instagram showed the content creator, Anthony Di Paolo, displaying how he cleaned his Crocs in the dishwasher. In the video, he pops open the dishwasher and drops a pair of dirty white crocs in it. After a few minutes, Di Paolo brings out a pair of squeaky clean crocs. He captioned, “I washed my crocs in the dishwasher. They came out so clean! Only downside is they shrunk a little bit.”

While this method appeared fast and stress-free, his Instagram followers questioned his hygiene. The man washed his dirty crocs alongside his dishes in the machine, and eagle-eyed observers were not so pleased.

Dishwasher Crocs Cleaning Hack Backfires

Social media users called out the Australian man for cleaning his dirty crocs in the dishwasher with his dishes. “This is why I don’t eat at just anybody’s house,” someone wrote. “Why not the washing machine?” another queried. Way down the comment section, viewers echoed similar sentiments as they advised him to use a washing machine instead. More followers criticized Di Paolo, as someone accused him of rage-baiting. However, he is not the only creator who has tried the hack.

Cookbook author Babs Costello also gave the dishwasher Crocs cleaning hack a try and shared it with her over 4 million TikTok followers. Contrary to how popular the hack has become, Crocs, Inc. did not list the dishwasher as a method to wash the footwear.

According to the Crocs website, customers are advised to hand wash their footwear with a sponge or a wash cloth. Another method is to put them in a washing machine with mild laundry detergent.
