If you have not heard of it before (I had not) then be prepared to be both amused and enraptured by the intense levels of kawaii located in the Baby Bestiary. It is exactly what it sounds like; a book designed for use with various Pen and Paper Roleplaying Games, intended to serve as both a source of information and inspiration on the subject of fantastical infant creatures for your fantasy type worlds.
Both according to fan reviews as well as the results of the original Baby Bestiary Kickstarter it was a huge success and does both a great job of being deep as well tongue in cheek. Now the developers are back with more ideas about young monsters and they are asking for help with producing a second volume. In addition, they intend to make a second run of physical copies of the first edition.
The Baby Bestiary volume 2 Kickstarter has 41 days to go as of this writing. It ends on Tue, Mar 8, 2016, at 7:00 PM PST, and requires a whopping 38,000 dollars to succeed. As of this writing, the campaign has amassed around 7,000 dollars so there is still quite a ways to go.
If you are even slightly interested in one or both of these books I would strongly urge you to donate as at the 10 dollar level you get a .pdf of the second volume with you getting both (as .pdfs) at the 20 dollar level. That’s not bad for RPG material and it would help ensure the continuation of this series of books.
Do you hate baby monsters? Were you unaware that beasts had children? Do you hate tabletop RPGs? Yell at us about it in the comments section.
