Bachelorette finalist Erich Schwer apologizes for ignorantly wearing blackface in the past. The final candidate for Gabby Windey admitted to the blackface charge by fans. However, he profoundly regrets wearing the costume for Halloween in high school.

This week, a photo from Erich’s old yearbook showing him dressed as Jimi Hendrix circulated on social media. He wore an afro wig and dark makeup to make him look like Hendrix. The real estate analyst is speaking up on his wrong costume choice as fans deem it insensitive.

Erich Schwer says he wholeheartedly apologizes for wearing blackface. He claimed it was an act of ignorance, but his young self thought he was expressing his love for the artist. The star further stated that he was naïve to the hurtful implications of his actions.

Erich, 29, is aware that his costume pissed off several people, especially the black community. He also took out time to plead with those closest to him. His actions and response to the situation make it easy to tell that the star is remorseful. According to the Bachelorette star, he’ll forever regret his offensive and damaging behavior.

Erich Schwer Deeply Apologizes For Wearing Blackface Costume

The star’s actions have received multiple backlashes from Twitter users. One person tweeted that he’s disappointed but not surprised at the analyst’s actions. Another post called out the finalist for blocking anyone who points out his misdeed. The user went on to state that the star doesn’t want to take accountability for his actions.

Contrary to the user’s claim, Erich Schwer apologized for wearing blackface by stating that he was ashamed of his actions. He also pointed out that he understands that his apology is only the first step in taking accountability.

Schwer’s case won’t be the first racism-related ruckus for the Bachelorette. In 2018, Rachel Kirkconnell was criticized for attending an antebellum plantation-themed event at Georgia College & State University. However, just like Erich, she later apologized.
