Tales of Berseria Announced

Bandai Namco announced Tales of Berseria for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3  at the annual Tales of festival in Yokohama. The game features character design by Matsumi Inomata, Kosuke Fujishima (both worked on former Tales games) and animated cutscenes by Ufotable (a Japanese animation company).

This will be the first ever Tales game to feature a fixed, female main protagonist, named Velvet. Her voice actor will be Rina Sato, who voiced Presa in Tales of Xillia. Satou was a surprise guest at the announcement unveiling.

Supposedly, details regarding the cast and story will be forthcoming in the coming months. No information regarding a release window was announced.

The latest entry in the series to see a western release was Tales of Hearts R, which arrived on PlayStation Vita late last year. Bandai Namco is working on hopefully launching Tales of Zestiria sometime this year for Europe and North America.

What do you think about the announcement? Are you excited about the new female protagonist? Do you think Bandai Namco’s shift from the classic male/female structure to a lone female hero is in response to the backlash from (*potential spoilers in the link*) Tales of Zesteria? Let us know in the comments below about your thoughts and opinions on the upcoming game!

I believe that games are an important form of entertainment, and that they can uplift and inspire millions of people around the world. I love JRPGs, and dabble in many other genres, especially MOBAs.
