You should always watch where you’re going, especially in the heat of the sport. In baseball, the batter wears a helmet to protect themselves from the ball being thrown in their direction. However, what kind of protection is there for when a rogue bat goes flying in the air? Unfortunately, one baseball player found out what happens after batting like a pro and getting a little too excited. The whole event was recorded and posted to Reddit for everyone to see.
The video is taken at a baseball game, from the point of view of someone standing far behind the batter and umpire. You see the pitcher for the opposing team throw the pitch to which the batter immediately hits. After hitting it, he takes a moment to see where it will land, hovering over the home base for a bit. Then, he throws the bat as he begins to run towards second base.
However, he failed to see what was in the way of the throw because the camera follows the bat until it hits the umpire on the head. The umpire stumbles around a little bit before hitting the ground, unconscious. This is where the video ends, so it’s unclear if he received medical attention or got up shortly afterward.
Despite the obvious severity of the situation, commenters found the umpire’s reaction amusing. Given his position behind the batter, he should have kept his helmet on instead of immediately removing it.

Personally, I think it took way too long for the players to do something since they all just stare at the fallen man. Maybe he’ll think twice the next time he takes his helmet off before the play!
