DC is heading back to its Elseworlds line with Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – The Kryptonian Age. The original series, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, is an all-time classic and DC is returning to that world to make it even bigger. The new series will take Gaslight beyond the city of Gotham and introduce this world’s Justice League. Meanwhile, DC is giving fans a quick preview of the new Elseworlds series that comes from writer Andy Diggle and artist Leandro Fernandez.
The preview pages pick up with Catwoman and Holly in the middle of a heist. The two share some back and forth as they infiltrate what appears to be a mansion or museum of sorts. The preview then cuts to Catwoman making her way to whatever the duo came to rob. As she cuts the glass surrounding an item, we see that she was after a Green Lantern ring this whole time. What could Catwoman possibly want with a Green Lantern ring? Does the mean that the ring’s wielder is not far behind? Sadly, we will have to wait and find out.
We do know that Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – The Kryptonian Age is set to bring a new iteration of the Justice League. Perhaps Catwoman’s thievery is the catalyst that brings part of this new team together. Meanwhile, over the twelve issues of the series, Andy Diggle and Leandro Fernandez will expand on this world originally from Brian Augustyn and Mike Mingola. This includes bringing DC’s greatest together for the 19th-century Justice League. Meanwhile, this leads to the reveal of their world’s secret Kryptonian Age.
Batman: Gotham By Gaslight
The original Batman: Gotham By Gaslight brought a Dark Knight from the Victorian Ages to readers. This series found a Victorian Batman on the hunt for Jack the Ripper. Then, Brian Augustyn would return to this world in Batman: Master of the Future where the titular hero faced down an insane prophet. Now, we head back to this Gaslight world to introduce a new Justice League.
Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – The Kryptonian Age is on sale 06/11.
