Beeple, aka Mike Winkelmann, is hands down one of the most talented and dedicated digital artist workings today, as he has created a different illustration every day for over 10 years. To celebrate this accomplishment and his art, King Deluxe Studio is teaming up with the artist to bring his artwork to life in VR and they need your help.

The record label / audio-visual laboratory has set up a competition for animators, illustrators and anyone handy with creating VR scene in Unity, all centered around their interpretations of Beeple’s art. Once you’ve used Unity to create the scene, submit it to King Deluxe’s VRChat account through Steam.

The winners of the competition will be decided by none other than Beeple himself, with first prize being an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, delivered.  Or monetary equivalent.  Other prizes include 2 Vive trackers,  $100 & $50 Unity Asset Store vouchers, and a $50 Steam gift card.

If you are interested in submitting to the competition, you have until August 14th, 2017 to upload your finals scenes, with no limit to the amount one can submit. There are a number of awesome submissions in the competition making waves, all of which you can check out on King Deluxe’s website.

This is the first known Virtual Reality competition of it’s kind and is an extraordinary opportunity for designers and artist everywhere to get their name out there, all thanks to Beeple and King Deluxe Studios. While many may know the artist, the studio behind the competition is also well known for it’s unique animated music videos, some of which are very similar to Winkelmann’s own obscure, abstract VJ loops.

For more information on the competition, be sure to check back to the site for updates and don’t forget to check out the current submissions on the studio’s website, especially if you have a VR unit at your disposal.
