It’s not unusual to find two celebrities beefing with each other at any given time. When the spotlight hits someone and they’re no longer under the public eye, they’re bound to face scrutiny. One big name who is always facing judgment in the media is billionaire Elon Musk. It’s safe to say he isn’t the most likeable guy. This is especially true since his recent rendezvous with politics. Now, beloved New York author, Joyce Carol Oates, has a few choice words for Elon and I don’t think he liked what she had to say.
Joyce’s recent criticism of Elon Musk and his lack of hobbies is actually quite hilarious. TikToker Dr. Salles (@argfhavansallesmdphd) shared a video talking about what went down between the two on Twitter. Dr. Salles said that it’s especially hilarious that he’s “getting absolutely destroyed by an 87-year-old woman on his own platform.” Joyce Carol Oates has always been quite spicy and controversial. In her novel We Were the Mulvaneys, she quite literally criticizes Christianity as a whole. But what she said about Elon really hit the nail on the head, even though he liked to disagree.
Joyce Carol Oates went on a rant stating, “So curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciates.” She references a couple of things, from “scenes from nature” and “a book (but doubt that he reads.)” She goes on to say, “In fact he seems totally uneducated, uncultured. The poorest persons on Twitter may have access to more beauty & meaning in life than the ‘most wealthy person in the world.’” Elon, who may be on his way to becoming the world’s first trillionaire, didn’t appreciate her observations.
In a true fit of anger, Elon replied that Joyce’s post was “demonstrably false” and that she’s a “lazy liar” for calling him out. He then replied to a movie account post and referred to the Edge of Tomorrow movie as being “great.” Apparently, he was so offended by what she had to say that he had to immediately backtrack and share his opinions on a movie to try and prove her wrong.
According to a recent Twitter post, Elon kept things going and even stated that Joyce must be a “real downer at parties.” But, I don’t know. It kind of sounds like she’d be really fun at parties when she’s roasting billionaires. As one commenter shared on Dr. Salles’ post, “He does appear quite sad for such a wealthy guy.” Is he the perfect example of somebody who has it all and still has nothing? Another commenter praised Joyce Carol Oates, calling her “THAT girl.” They went on to say, “Bet he’s in the fetal position right now, with his nanny reading him nursery rhymes.” That checks out.
