Call of Duty: MW3 has introduced seven new Assault Rifles to the game, besides the ones we knew from MW2. Now after more than two months of the game’s release, we’ve certainly tried all of them in addition to the new Ram-7 that was added in Season 1. However, the crown of the best doesn’t belong to MCW in the Assault Rifle/AR class anymore, as the balance updates have changed the ranking meta in MW3 and Warzone.
MW3 Season 1 Best Assault Rifles, Ranked
7. FR 5.56
FR 5.56 had a small chance to shine with the launch of MW3, before Season 1. This weapon was used to kill opponents with a 3 burst to the upper body in MW3 Multiplayer and dominate in Warzone by featuring huge power and clicky burst fire rate. But now, it’s nothing but an ordinary weapon, which isn’t a fan favorite anymore. Thus it only secures the 7th spot on the list here.
6. MTZ-556
MTZ-556 is a well-rounded weapon, but it’s not considered to be a meta. The rifle comes with a very high fire rate, but the damage isn’t something to tell in an epic story. Shooting targets in Warzone with this AR feels like throwing mosquitoes to fight an armored bee, dealing the least damage. However, MTZ-556 comes with a manageable recoil, and with a good setup, you can turn it into a sharpshooting laser beamer. Not the best Assault Rifle to recommend in MW3 or Warzone in the end.
5. MCW
The MCW was the king of MW3‘s armory before the Sesson 1 balancing update. It feels like the developers have had enough of this poor AR, decreasing its damaging stats to a very low level. However, even after the nerf, if you equip the Jak Raven conversion kit on this Assault Rifle, it’d become a tricky weapon to pick. It surely isn’t the best of the Assault Rifle class in MW3 or Warzone. But the increased fire rate by the conversion kit does cover the mess up to some point.
4. Holger 556
Closing in to reach the finalists of the best Assault Rifles in MW3 and Warzone, we have the Holger 556. The best word to describe this AR is “Good.” It doesn’t unleash hell with high fire rate stats, nor does it come with groundbreaking damage. Everything about Holger 556 is just balanced, and normal. You can kill the meta abusers with Holger 556, its recoil is very manageable, and it hits with enough power to put down the targets with a few shots.
3. DG-56
The meta before Season 1, and a powerful choice after the update, DG-56 never disappoints for a clean 3-burst shot kill in MW3. You need to be accurate to hit the upper body, but even if you miss, the second burst will surely put the enemy soldier into the ground, so that they can check your Killcam and see how stylish you’ve defeated them. Not to mention that DG-56’s overpowering damage speaks for itself in Warzone‘s long-range battles.
2. SVA 554
Second best Assault Rifle/AR in MW3 and Warzone here we have the SVA 545. This rifle was super buffed before Season 1, and it still packs a heavy punch even after the update. The AK-47’s descendent simulator comes with OK damaging stats, but the rain of fire with its insane fire rate.
1. Ram-7
Want a better version of SVA 545 that comes with an even higher fire rate? Ram-7 everyone! This is a returning weapon from Modern Warfare 2019, and it earns the best Assault Rifle title in MW3 and Warzone for its superfast TTK and great handling. Ram-7 comes with a variety of barrel attachments, allowing you to build a long-range heavy hitter, or a mobile AR for the hit-and-run playstyle. And most importantly, it has clean iron sights to use with mostly vertical recoil.
And there you have it with our best AR picks of Season 1 in MW3 and Warzone. These choices are made by testing these weapons with different setups through both games, and the results are ranked by the weapons that have the fastest TTK. Want to learn more about MW3‘s armory?
