He’s not the most put-together member of Suicide Squad, but with his best build, Captain Boomerang is a lethal threat in Kill the Justice League. Pairing a shotgun or SMG with a sniper rifle allows Captain Boomerang to play up close or from afar in Rocksteady‘s looter-shooter, and closing those distances is easy thanks to teleportation. Captain Boomerang Playstyle
Captain Boomerang can be played with a shotgun in the heart of the action or from afar with a rifle, picking apart enemy weak points while your team does the rest. This build prioritizes the shotgun above all else, relying on Boomerang’s unique Speed Force ability to close the distance on enemies in an instant. It also features several Shield boosting Talents, meaning you’ll stay relatively safe despite your proximity to enemies. Do your best to maintain your Combo, using your shotgun to execute one enemy before moving on to the next. When playing co-op, don’t be afraid to join King Shark on the frontlines.

Most of your picks across all three Talent trees will either increase your DPS with shotguns or improve your Shields. That pairing is important because you’re prone to take plenty of fire on the frontline, compared to a hit-and-run-style character like Harley Quinn. Even if you aren’t investing many Talent points into rifles, it can be worthwhile to bring a sniper in your secondary slot, as that will give you some strategic flexibility during co-op. Despite not being as tanky as King Shark, Boomerang can still take quite a beating thanks to Talents like High Tolerance, Shotgunner, and Stingy Shields, so don’t be afraid to take some risks.
Weapons and Gear
If you want to run a sniper secondary, Black Mask’s Bulletstorm is a straightforward but effective choice for applying Afflictions from a safe distance. The meat of your loadout will be shotguns, however. You have several good options, and the selection only improves with the addition of the Joker and new loot in Season One. Health Kick is a Legendary S.T.A.R. Labs Shotgun that regenerates your health and replenishes your shield instead of doing crit damage, which is an underrated option if you want to go all-in on survivability. Oh Snap! is also a good Legendary choice, thanks to the Shield Picksups you spawn with Counters.
The Infamous One Man’s Trash Grenade is a good choice if you want to focus on the Burning Affliction. With two pieces of this set equipped, you’ll gain a 100% chance of Burning enemies with your grenades and you’ll automatically Burn enemies with 15 meters when your Shield is broken. Standard Deductible is a great choice for Traversal Mod if you’re interested in the sniper playstyle. Dr. Critz, meanwhile, is a good choice of Neck Bomb, since it allows you to regenerate 2% Shield with every critical hit.
