You will not want to miss the chance to catch the Dragon-type Legendaries considering they can only be caught once per save! Nevertheless, it’s going to be a tough fight, but don’t fret. We have listed the best counters for the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera Dialga and Palkia Raid.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Best Counters for Dialga and Palkia Tera 5-Star Raid
Both the Terastallize Dialga and Palkia appear as Dragon-Tera Type Pokemon. For that reason, bringing Fairy-type Pokemon will be beneficial since it will be immune to Dragon attacks. Especially Draco Meteor which hits like a fully-loaded truck. Nevertheless, there are special exceptions to the rule. Below is the move list for both Tera Raid Pokemon.
Dialga 5-Star Raid Moves | Palkia 5-Star Raid Moves |
---|---|
Draco Meteor (Dragon/Special) | Draco Meteor (Dragon/Special) |
Earth Power (Ground/Special) | Fire Blast (Fire/Special) |
Fire Blast (Fire/Special) | Gravity (Psychic/Status) |
Iron Defense (Steel/Status) | Hydro Pump (Water/Special) |
Steel Beam (Steel/Special) | Rain Dance (Water/Status) |
Stealth Rock (Rock/Status) | Thunder (Electric/Special) |
Trick Room (Psychic/Status) |
Countering 5-Star Raid Dialga
The best counters for Dialga in 5-Star Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are:
- Annihilape: Primeape’s 9th Generation evolution is considered to be the best Pokemon to bring for almost any Raid in the game. Give it Screech, Rage Fist, Bulk Up, and Seismic Toss or Drain Punch for its moves. Then maximize its Attack and Special Defense. Give Metronome or Shell Bell as the Fighting/Ghost Pokemon’s Hold Item. It also can pull Draco Meteor aggro, taking the heat from other Trainers’s Pokemon.
- Gholdengo + Perrserker: The ultimate Raid cheese strategy. Although you will need four players to pull this off.
- Gholdengo: Look for one with Modest Nature and max out its HP and Special Attack EV. The Hold Item you need for this is Choice Spec. Meanwhile, the only move you need is Make it Rain.
- Perrserker: The other three players can use this Steel-Type Pokemon. Give it maximum HP and Special Defense for EV. Then the move you need is Fake Tears. Now with Steely Spirits stacks three times, use Fake Tears on the Raid boss. Sit back and watch Gholdengo cash out with Make it Rain.
- Blissey: Considered to be the best Raid support Pokemon when playing multiplayer. Max out its HP EV, give 60 for Defense, 100 for Special Defense, and dump the rest on Special Attack. Give it Helping Hand, Ice Beam, Life Dew, and Light Screen. Let it Hold Light Clay.
- Azumarill: Thanks to its Water/Fairy dual-typing and Huge Power Ability, the cute water mouse has been known as a Raid powerhouse. Belly Drum and Play Rough are your main moves. Use Terastallize and Liquidation when your Azumarril still has more than 60% HP to make sure it won’t get one-shot by Steel Beam. For Hold Item, give it Shell Bell. Take into account that you need to max out its Attack and Special Defense.
- Magearna: The Steel/Fairy Pokemon can hold its own in this Raid battle once HP and Special Attack have been maxed out. Particularly in solo Raids, since the Soul-Heart Ability will boost its Special Attack every time a Pokemon faints. Calm Mind and Draining Kiss will be the bread-and-butter moves. Utilize Fleur Cannon when you Terastallize. For Hold Item, give it Life Orb.
- Iron Hands: The Fighting/Electric Future Paradox version of Hariyama is not a bad choice for this fight. Seems like a bit weird pick considering it doesn’t have Fairy Type, but hey, so does Annihilape. Belly Drum, Drain Punch, and Ice Punch are your best options if you do bring one. Booster Energy can be chosen as its Hold Item. Maximizing its HP and Attack EV is crucial.
- Remember that Iron Hands is a Pokemon Violet-exclusive Pokemon. You will need to trade if you want to use one.
Countering 5-Star Raid Palkia
For Palkia in 5-Star Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the best counters are:
- Annihilape: Again, you can’t go wrong with this ape. Use the same approach as in the Dialga part.
- Gholdengo + Purrzerker: This setup can easily destroy up to 6-Star Raid bosses. For the combo, refer to the Dialga part above.
- Blissey: The best Raid support Pokemon you can bring when playing online. Check up the setup above.
- Sylveon: You will want a Modest Sylveon for the Special Attack boost. Then, armed it with Light Screen, Calm Mind, Fake Tears, and Draining Kiss. Or you can give it Hyper Voice or Hyper Beam since its Pixilate Ability will turn any Normal moves into Fairy. Pay regard to its Special Attack and Special Defense EV and enhance them to the maximum.
- Funny enough, you can find Tera Sylveon with a similar setup somewhere around Area Three in North Province. Just catch one and level it up to 100.
- Zacian: The canine Fairy Pokemon with Rusted Sword Hold Item can be an interesting option for this Raid. Look for one with Adamant Nature. Set it up with Swords Dance and Play Rough. You can use Howl and Helping Hand when playing with other players. Max its HP and Attack.
- Flutter Mane: The Ghost/Fairy Ancient Paradox version of Misdreavus is a good choice to bring for the Raid. Set it up with Calm Mind, Draining Kiss, and Moonblast. Max out its Special Attack and Defense EV. Expert Belt or Pixie Plate can be chosen as its Hold Item.
- Do keep in mind that Flutter Mane is a Pokemon Scarlet-exclusive Pokemon. Trading is definitely necessary for owning one.
