While most players focus on the fighting and questing aspect of WoW Classic, professions play a huge role, especially when paired with specific classes. Besides letting you create some powerful items, you can also use them to net yourself a large sum of gold, which is always nice. With WoW Classic progressing to The Burning Crusade, we believed it was time to make a quick list of the best professions you can grab for each class in the game.
The Best Profession & Class Combinations in WoW Classic
Before delving into the combinations of professions and classes in WoW Classic, you need to learn about combining the former. Professions are divided into gathering and crafting, and most of the time, you have to pair one with the other. For example, grabbing Blacksmithing as your crafting progression will go perfectly with Mining. The same applies to Alchemy and Herbalism. So, with that out of the way, let’s take a look at the list.
Class | First Profession | Second Profession |
---|---|---|
Druid | Alchemy | Herbalism |
Hunter | Engineering | Mining |
Mage | Tailoring | Enchanting |
Paladin | Blacksmithing | Mining |
Priest | Tailoring | Enchanting |
Rogue | Leatherworking/Engineering | Skinning/Mining |
Shaman | Leatherworking/Engineering | Skinning/Mining |
Warlock | Tailoring | Enchanting |
Warrior | Blacksmithing | Mining |
Explanation
Before we wrap it up, we believe an explanation is in order. As you can see on the list, there are several profession combinations that repeat for certain classes. Why is that? Well, they synergize better with a class role or just provide some needed survivability when leveling or even buffs for endgame content.
For instance, Alchemy and Herbalism are ideal for a Druid, especially since this class can gather ingredients in its travel form, which makes the process much faster. However, for gear-making purposes, Druids can also take Skinning and Leatherworking.
Speaking of Skinning and Leatherworking, these are good picks for Rogues, Shamans, Hunters, and Druids. You can craft all the necessary gear for these classes, but the Skinning grind might be a bit longer than other gathering professions.
For our cloth-wearing classes, Tailoring and Enchanting are the best choices. The former can create the armor and even bags that you can sell for a hefty sum of gold, while the latter will provide ingredients for Tailoring. The same happens with plate-wearing classes, such as Paladins and Warriors. They can create armor and weapons by combining Blacksmithing and Mining.
However, the general consensus is usually grabbing Engineering and Mining, especially since the former provides a lot of DPS items and other trinkets that can buff any class. Most DPS classes take this profession combo, as it helps a lot during the leveling process and beyond. Yet, you can pick whichever profession you want, as long as it makes sense with your class. Don’t go picking Blacksmithing if you’re a Mage.
